March Spring Update


President The Committee are pleased to announce that at the first meeting after the AGM the President of the Association was elected. We are delighted to confirm that Mrs Belinda Humfrey has been elected for a term of three years.

New Committee Member
The Committee is delighted to announce that Mr Glen Houghton has been co-opted onto the Committee, most of you will know Glen who has been a big help to the committee in an un-official capacity for a long time. Glen can be found at the allotments most days and holds a key to the hut.

Hut Opening Times
The sales hut will be open from 10.30am until 12.00 noon on Saturday 9th, 16th, 23th and 30th March 2019 where subscriptions can be paid, and items purchased. The hut will then be open every Friday evening from Friday 5th April between 6.30 and 7.30pm until the end August 2019.

Annual Outing Sunday 15th September 2019
We are delighted to confirm that the Association outing for 2019 will be to the Harrogate Autumn Flower Show on Sunday 15 September. The show, which is organised by the North of England Horticultural Society, is one of the most spectacular in the country. It features a Nursery Pavilion, with 50 fantastic nurseries, a Floral Pavilion, with the country’s biggest exhibition of gardening groups, live expert demonstrations, the famous giant vegetable competition, a Cookery Theatre and of course, lots of shopping opportunities. You will also find plenty of catering outlets at the show. The cost of the outing will be £28.00 per person. This will include the coach fare, a tip for the driver and entrance to the show. You can book your place at the Allotment Hut during hut opening times (noted below). If you are paying by cheque, please make it payable to ‘Desborough Allotment and Garden Association’. We would recommend that you book your seats early, from 10 May non-members will have the opportunity to join us if any seats are still available.
