Desborough Allotment and Garden Association

Bob Freeman

I have been an allotment holder for15 years and a committee member for 14 years. Before retirement I was a Fuel Engineer at British Steel at Corby.

I love to garden, following in my father’s and grandfather’s footsteps, because with the allotment, I like to see things grow and have a supply of fresh vegetables.
It is good exercise and a good social activity. Gardening at home is enjoyable to see the plants and shrubs grow every year and to acquire new plants and shrubs. Harvesting fruit, soft fruit and tomatoes and to have a neat garden to enjoy is also a pleasure.
My interests apart from gardening are volunteering at Desborough Heritage Centre, member of Desborough Civic Society, twinning with Desborough’s twin towns in France and Belgium, member of the Desborough & District group of the Wildlife Trust, walking and visiting National Trust properties.
